Virudhunagar Government Medical College Dean T. Jeyasingh honours a staff on Tuesday.

A medical team comprising 104 personnel from Virudhunagar Government Medical College hospital were honoured for their dedication to work while treating victims of a fire accident reported at a fireworks unit at Kattanarpatti on April 19 that claimed 25 lives.

Medical officers, nurses, laboratory technicians and multi-purpose workers slogged for two days without rest to provide treatment to 25 persons who were admitted with injuries including burns. Their dedication helped to provide them immediate and quality treatment that helped to reduce the loss of lives and also mitigated severity of injuries.

Appreciating their tireless work, certificate of appreciation issued by Collector N.O. Sukhaputra were distributed to them by Dean T. Jeyasingh. Additional medical teams from Madurai and Tirunelveli also had assisted them due to the magnitude of the casualty.
