Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday (June 30, 2026) reiterated the State government’s strong commitment to farmers, highlighting that Telangana is emerging as a national model in agricultural welfare.

He announced that financial assistance under the Rythu Bharosa scheme for the Kharif (Vanakalam) season will be released today, providing ₹12,000 per acre annually to farmers as investment support. The initiative, he said, fulfils promises made in the Warangal Farmers’ Declaration, a key policy framework of the Congress.

Mr. Goud noted that the government’s farm loan waiver of up to ₹2 lakh has benefited nearly 25 lakh farmer families, easing financial burdens and strengthening rural livelihoods. He added that the State has allocated a significant budget to agriculture and allied sectors, despite fiscal constraints.

The introduction of a bonus on fine paddy has led to a nearly 60% increase in cultivation, boosting farmer incomes and production. In addition to landowners, the government has also launched the Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa scheme to support landless agricultural labourers.

Farmer insurance schemes continue to provide financial security to farming families in times of distress, he said. Mr. Goud clarified that only cultivable land is eligible for Rythu Bharosa benefits, and revised guidelines have been put in place to prevent misuse of public funds.

He emphasised that the government is implementing welfare programmes while maintaining fiscal discipline. “Farmers’ prosperity is the foundation of Telangana’s development,” Mr. Goud said.
