Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood on Wednesday ordered a multi-agency inspection campaign of coaching hubs across the city, including Mukherjee Nagar, Rajinder Nagar and Katwaria Sarai, to verify compliance with safety norms, building regulations and other mandatory safety requirements.

The directions came two days after 15 people, mostly students, died in a fire at a commercial building in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Last month, at least five students were killed when a commercial building near the Saket Metro Station had collapsed.

The Delhi Development Authority, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Fire Services, and Delhi Disaster Management Authority will be part of the special drive. Officials were directed to ensure the implementation of long-term safety measures without delay. “Safety of students is our highest priority,” said the Minister, who also holds the Education portfolio.
