Soon after the Letter of Acceptance was issued to Bengaluru-based Shankaranarayana Constructions (SNC) for the first package of the long-pending Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC), earlier known as the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), L.K. Atheeq, BBC chairman, directed officials to expedite land acquisition compensation payments and complete the pending administrative formalities to enable the start of the construction work.

Following a review meeting with officials from the land acquisition and engineering sections of BBC, as well as representatives of the project contractor on Wednesday, Mr. Atheeq instructed all Special Land Acquisition Officers to speed up compensation payments to landowners who have already consented to hand over possession of their land.

“The contractor has submitted the bank guarantee required as performance security, hence the engineering section has been directed to sign the agreement and issue the work order within the next two days, paving the way for the formal commencement of the project,” he said.

Moreover, the final notification has been issued for the acquisition of land required for the integration of the project with the NICE corridor at Madavara village. Officials have been instructed to complete the award process and begin disbursing compensation, the official said.

The engineering section will seek permissions from the National Highways Authority, the Public Works Department, and the Railways for the construction of Road Over Bridges at locations where the alignment intersects their infrastructure. The contractor, SNC, has been asked to follow up on these clearances along with BCC officials, Mr. Atheeq said.

“The preparatory work has largely been completed, and construction is expected to begin shortly on land parcels that are free from encumbrances and are already available with the authorities,” he said.
