Bengaluru’s Namma Metro services on the Purple Line returned to normal early Wednesday (June 24, 2026) following hours of disruption that left thousands of commuters stranded across the city.

Regular operations resumed from 5 a.m. after a technical issue that had severely affected services the previous evening was successfully rectified, according to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL).

The disruption began on the evening of June 23, when a technical snag in a metro train crippled operations at the busy Cubbon Park Metro Station. The issue triggered widespread delays and confusion, particularly during peak hours, as commuters struggled to find alternative transport.

In a statement, BMRCL said that its Operations and Maintenance team had worked extensively to resolve the fault. “The technical issue encountered at Cubbon Park Metro Station has been successfully rectified,” the statement stated.

During the disruption, train services were partially curtailed, with operations restricted between select stations. Services between Majestic and Indiranagar stations were suspended, causing significant inconvenience to passengers along one of the city’s busiest corridors.

The temporary suspension led to overcrowding at operational stations and long waiting times, with many commuters reporting difficulties in securing last-mile connectivity.
