As many as 538 vehicles which were seized in connection to various Law and Order, traffic and crime, and were lying in various police stations were handed over to their rightful owners after completion of all procedures in the sixth phase of ‘Vehicle Return Mela’ held at Police Barracks in the city on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi said that in many instances, vehicle owners were unable to retrieve their seized vehicles from courts due to various difficulties. As a result, these vehicles remain unused for long periods, leading to deterioration and a significant loss in value. To address this issue, the city police initiated this special ‘Vehicle Return Mela.’ Vehicles were returned to their owners free of cost, in the interest of the public.
In the last six ‘Vehicle Return Melas’ organised, the city police has returned as many as 2,120 vehicles to the owners, he added.
The victims expressed their gratitude to the city police on the occasion.
