BJP leader slams govt. over police job issues, GO 46

Posted on June 22, 2026 By admin

Telangana BJP Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy on Monday criticised the State government over the difficulties faced by unemployed youth applying for police jobs, including flawed policies causing distress among aspirants.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s State office, Mr. Reddy strongly objected to Government Order (GO) 46, calling it ‘highly unjust’ and said the system introduced under the ‘CDC-I’ and ‘CDC-II’ categories had put rural candidates at a disadvantage.

According to him, it was unfair that candidates who appeared for the same exam were evaluated using different cut-off marks and said the policy had led to unequal treatment reducing opportunities for many deserving candidates.

Mr. Reddy also claimed that the implementation of GO 46 had skewed job allocation in favour of the Hyderabad Commissionerates as a result, candidates from rural districts were losing out on jobs despite scoring high marks. The government had earlier promised to scrap GO 46 but had failed to do so and demanded that the policy be reviewed immediately.

The BJP leader further urged the government to increase the number of constable posts. He pointed out that the current notification for 5,000 posts was insufficient and should be raised to 20,000, in line with the demands of job seekers.

Mr. Reddy also condemned the filing of ‘illegal’ cases against nine students who had protested against the recruitment process and said the government was trying to silence genuine concerns. He demanded that all cases against the students be withdrawn without conditions.

Mr. Reddy said the government must take immediate steps to ensure fairness and transparency in the recruitment process. He stressed that equal opportunities should be provided to candidates from both urban and rural areas. The BJP leader said his party would continue to raise the issue until the concerns of job aspirants are addressed and justice is ensured.
