Posted on June 21, 2026 By admin

A teacher of a private engineering college in Erode was arrested on Sunday (June 21) for allegedly sexually harassing a 19-year-old student at an engineering college in Erode district.

The accused, Rajaram Krishnamurthy, was deputed as an external invigilator for an exam held at a private engineering college in Mettukadai on Saturday.

According to the police, he allegedly subjected a student of the college to sexual harassment after the examination.

The student alerted the police control room following the incident. Personnel from the Singappen Special Force went to the college and conducted preliminary inquiries.

Based on the student’s complaint, the Erode All Women Police Station registered a case under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. The police secured the accused for inquiry and arrested him on Sunday.

He was remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is under way.
