The officers of the Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Directorate (DVAC) on Thursday conducted surprise checks at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), Motor Vehicle Inspectorate Offices (MVIOs), and driving schools across Tamil Nadu, seizing unaccounted cash of ₹31.85 lakh and detecting suspicious Google Pay transactions worth ₹5.95 lakh.
These checks were conducted on the orders of DVAC Director A. Arun. The teams carried out simultaneous checks at transport offices and driving schools across 40 locations. In Chennai, unaccounted cash was seized from four offices — ₹37,560 was seized from the Kolathur RTO and ₹45,640, ₹9,100 and ₹14,470, respectively from the Valasaravakkam, Pulianthope and Anna Nagar RTOs.
The Kallakurichi RTO recorded the highest seizure of ₹3.77 lakh, while ₹69,020 was seized at the Kanchipuram RTO. The Poonamallee RTO in Tiruvallur district yielded ₹21,370, the Gudiyatham MVIO in Vellore district yielded ₹15,500, and the Chengalpattu RTO yielded ₹34,610 and Google Pay transactions of ₹98,688. Significant seizures were also made in the delta and central districts. Google Pay transactions were also detected at the Alangudi MVIO in Pudukottai district, and the RTOs in Perundurai, Tirupattur, and Karaikudi.
