Man held for snatching gold chain of woman in Coimbatore

Posted on June 18, 2026 By admin

The police have arrested a person for allegedly snatching the gold chain of a woman near Madukkarai in Coimbatore district.

Nizharuddin alias Arath Nizar (29) of Kuniyamuthur was arrested on June 17 based on a complaint lodged by a 30-year-old woman from Madukkarai.

The woman complained that an unidentified person approached her from behind on a two-wheeler and snatched her gold chain when she was walking down the Thoppampalayam Road at Madukkarai on June 11.

The Madukkarai police registered a case, and a special team was constituted under Inspector Rajendra Prasad. The police were on the lookout for Nizharuddin for his suspected involvement in the snatching based on circumstantial evidence.

The police intercepted Nizharuddin during a vehicle check near Marappalam at Madukkarai on Wednesday. When questioned, he confessed to have snatched the woman’s gold chain, according to the police.

The police arrested him and recovered the snatched chain from him. Two motorcycles used by the accused were also seized. He was remanded.
