My remarks were not directed at women: YSRCP leader

Posted on June 17, 2026 By admin

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Gudivada Amarnath on Wednesday alleged that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders have been carrying out a planned misinformation campaign against him over the last few days. The former Minister stated that his recent remarks on Home Minister V. Anitha were not directed at women as whole, but he was only condemning the language which was used by her against Y.S. Vijayamma and Y.S. Bharathi.

Defending his remarks, Mr. Amarnath said that he had spoken out against two years of personal attacks and abusive allegations directed at YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, party leaders and social media activists.

He alleged that YSRCP workers were facing harassment through false cases and that, as a regional leader, he had a responsibility to reassure party cadres. He maintained that he stood by his remarks and would continue to respond strongly.

Mr Amarnath also stated that he was not intimidated by threats of TDP leaders and added that he that he was prepared to face complaints lodged at the State, national or even international level.

He also said that he has never indulged in indecent or derogatory language against women. He alleged that the TDP leadership has been selectively raising issues concerning women’s dignity for political purposes, while remaining silent on similar remarks made by leaders within their own party.

The YSRCP Anakapalli district president also said that law & order has been deteriorated in the state, while there was an increase in crime against women.
