In the latest fortnightly review, the government late on Monday (June 15, 2026) increased the export duty on diesel to ₹14 per litre and that on export of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to ₹12.5 per litre whilst keeping the levy on petrol unchanged at ₹1.5 per litre.

This applies for the fortnight commencing June 16.

Essential to also note that the excise duty rates on petrol and diesel for domestic consumption remains unchanged.

In the backdrop of the West Asia crisis, the government had put forth export levies from March 27 onwards to ensure adequate domestic availability of petroleum products by disincentivising exports.

Since then, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) has been undertaking reviews on a fortnightly basis, based on prevailing trends and oil prices over the period.

In the last fortnightly review undertaken for the fortnight commencing June 1, the government had set the export levy for diesel at ₹13.5 per litre, ATF at ₹9.5 per litre and petrol at ₹1.5 per litre.
