The Puducherry Cyber Crime police, on Saturday (June 13, 2026), handed over 240 mobile phones worth ₹45.4 lakh to their owners.
Puducherry Superintendent of Police (Cyber Crime) S. Ragav said that of the total 240 mobile phones, as many as 163 belonged to complainants from Puducherry. The remaining belonged to States including Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. All recovered devices were handed over to the owners after verification of the documents.
Mr. Ragav said with the help of modern technology, the Cyber Crime division has been continuously locating and recovering stolen mobile phones. He noted that the recovery was facilitated through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, with the Puducherry Police Cyber Crime taking the lead.
The Superintendent of Police urged the public to immediately report to the nearest police station or the Cyber Crime if their phones are lost or stolen.
