The members of the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) have appealed to the MSME Minister P.Madhanraj to expedite the commissioning of the new SIPCOT industrial park in Melur.
Led by its president A. Senthikumar, secretary J. Ashok, vice-president J. Mohamed Yasik and former president M. S. Sampath, they met the minister in Chennai on Wednesday.
In a press release issued, Mr. Senthikumar said that the industrial park in Melur would provide job opportunities to over 1000 people. Likewise, the Tamil Nadu government should examine the modalities to open up a new industrial park in Madurai exclusively for automobiles on a 1000-acre land.
The delegation suggested the minister to revive and reform the single window system as it would help the entrepreneurs to get clearance for their industries without any delay. For instance, if any industrial unit wants to expand their production, the application should be processed within a reasonable time and cleared through a single-window.
While the governments were encouraging private sector to establish industrial parks. For this purpose, incentives for infrastructure building should be provided and monetary support through subsidies would be welcomed.
The GeM (Government e-Marketplace) should be made more user-friendly and towards achieving this goal, the officials should motivate the tiny units to make use of the portal which would help them to sell their products and also give them better visibility, the release added.
