Two electrocuted as rain lashes Hyderabad

Two electrocuted as rain lashes Hyderabad

Posted on June 9, 2026 By admin

Two youths lost their lives after being electrocuted in Bandlaguda following heavy rains that lashed parts of the city on Tuesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Md. Zafar, 15, and Md. Afroz, 30, both residents of Chandrayangutta.

Bandlaguda Inspector R. Devender said the incident was reported around 6 p.m. when the two arrived in an auto-rickshaw and stepped out near a hotel in the locality to have tea. At the time, sudden rain accompanied by strong winds led to electric wires falling from a pole onto the road.

After getting down from the vehicle, Afroz accidentally stepped on a live wire and suffered a severe electric shock. In an attempt to rescue him, Zafar also came into contact with the live wire and was electrocuted.

The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and further investigation is under way.
