The Modi government has ‘fulfilled its responsibilities’ in major infrastructure projects such as MMTS, Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) and the Regional Ring Road (RRR), and the State government must clarify its own contribution instead of shifting blame, said Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Rao criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for ‘shirking responsibility’ and targeting Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy. “It is not right for the Chief Minister to shift the burden onto others while failing to acknowledge the Centre’s support in terms of financial assistance, policy clearances and logistical backing for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project,” he said.
He asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had played a ‘key role’ in enabling the Hyderabad Metro Rail project by ensuring necessary approvals and support. The delay in clearing the HMR second phase, he claimed, was due to the State government’s ‘failure to complete required procedures on time’. “Those who could not extend the metro line up to Falaknuma or Medchal are now blaming the Centre,” he remarked.
On the Regional Ring Road (ORR), Mr. Rao said that while the Centre had released its share of funds, the State government was yet to contribute towards land acquisition. He dismissed the Chief Minister’s allegations against Union Minister Kishan Reddy and BJP leaders as ‘baseless’.
The BJP leader further alleged that the Congress leadership in the State was rattled by the party’s growing presence in Telangana. “The rapid rise of the BJP has instilled fear in the Congress, prompting repeated attacks on our leaders,” he claimed.
Highlighting Central support to farmers, he said that the Centre had procured 55.31 lakh metric tonnes of produce from Telangana, benefitting over 7.79 lakh farmers with payments of ₹13,171 crore under the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Mr. Rao also claimed that the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office had clarified that it had not received any official meeting request from the Telangana CMO.
