Child falls into septic tank at construction site in Kasaragod, dies

Posted on June 7, 2026 By admin

A six-year-old boy died after falling into a septic tank at a house under construction at Manchathadukka Darga Road in Kasaragod on Sunday (June 7), triggering fresh concerns over safety lapses at construction sites.

The victim, Mohammed Ayan Shasim, a UKG student, was the son of Ahmed Shajir and Ashyamma.

According to reports, the child fell into the septic tank while playing near the construction site. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life. The body was later shifted to Kasaragod Government General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident has sparked criticism after it emerged that no safety measures had reportedly been put in place around the under-construction building or the septic tank, despite the area being frequented by residents. The absence of protective barriers or warning signs has raised questions about negligence and compliance with basic construction safety norms.
