GVMC chief warns of action against sanitation lapses

GVMC chief warns of action against sanitation lapses

Posted on June 3, 2026 By admin

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection of sanitation activities in several areas under the East Zone and Bheemunipatnam Zone limits.

The Commissioner made it clear that lapses in sanitation management would not be tolerated, warning that strict action would be taken against staff found neglecting their sanitation duties.

He directed sanitation workers and public health officers to perform their responsibilities with dedication and strive to further improve sanitation management with a focus on cleanliness, beautification, and overall development of Visakhapatnam city.

Mr. Garg reviewed the maintenance of drains, garbage collection, and waste transportation systems, stressing the need for 100% collection and transportation of household waste every morning, along with thorough cleaning of streets and roads.

The Commissioner also checked the attendance of sanitation workers and reiterated that any laxity in sanitation services would invite strict action. He instructed officials to ensure that the Beach Road surroundings remain clean at all times, since it is a major tourist destination.
