Four of a family killed as car, lorry collide near Tiruchi

Posted on June 2, 2026 By admin

Four of a family were killed and three others were injured in a road accident involving a car and a lorry at Jambunathapuram in the district on Tuesday. A group of seven persons were travelling in the car from Kodumudi to Perambalur when the accident occurred around 11.35 a.m.

Police sources said the car apparently went out of control and hit the lorry coming in the opposite direction. Two persons in the car S. Balasubramanian, 31, and M. Karthik, 33, were killed on the spot. Their bodies were taken to the Government Hospital, Musiri, for autopsy.

Five injured persons were initially admitted to the Government Hospital, Musiri, and later referred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi. Two of them — Kavitha, 27, and Murugesan, 50 — died of injuries while undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital, Tiruchi, later. The Jambunathapuram police are investigating the case.
