Consequently, scores of TNSTC crew members staged a sit-in protest in Sholavandan TNSTC depot on Monday afternoon complaining lack of protection to the crew members and demanding immediate arrest of all the four accused involved in the crime.
Obstructing road:
The police said that when the empty bus was proceeding towards Sholavandan depot on Sunday night, the driver found a car parked on the Karupatti-Sholavandan road obstructing free movement of vehicles.
The driver had asked those who were consuming liquor to move the car, a quarrel erupted.
“However, the accused attacked with knife on the head of Prasad,” said Labour Progressive Front general secretary, Melur V. Alphonse.
The police added that the victim was rushed to the Government Rajaji hospital, where he was given five sutures for the cut injuries on his head.
Sit-in protest:
Though the buses from Sholavandan depot had set out in the morning, the crew members staged a protest on Monday afternoon demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrators of the crime. Some 20 buses were not operated as the protest prolonged for nearly an hour.
“The agitation was given up in the interest of the common public,” Mr. Alphonse said.
The police said that a case of attempt to murder has been registered against the three accused who are absconding.
