An urban greening initiative has been launched in Perambalur municipal limits under which seedlings of various tree species are to be planted in public places after clearing the garbage dumped at those spots.  The move is aimed at preventing dumping of garbage again in public spots and making them clean and green.

The district administration has taken this initiative under which 5,000 seedlings of tree species are to be planted. Steps have been taken by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply department to identify those public places in Perambalur municipal limits where garbage had been dumped and clear them on a war footing.

In a bid to prevent dumping of garbage again at those places, seedlings of tree species are to be planted in an effort to protect the environment. Perambalur Collector N. Mirunalini inaugurated the planting works at the Four Road junction in Perambalur town after municipal workers cleaned the spot that was filled with garbage, an official release said.
