The chief executives of highly loss making unlisted companies of Tata Group including Air India Ltd, Tata Electronics, that houses the semiconductor business and Tata Digital on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) made presentations before the Tata Sons board on their past year’s performance and financial support needed during this year, informed persons said.

While the loss-making Air India is believed to need substantial financial support, Tata Electronics has to make heavy capital investment to execute the it’s announced projects.

The board meeting is said to have been attended by executive chairman N Chandrasekharan, vice chairman Noel Tata and board members Saurabh Agarwal, Harish Manwani, Anita George and Venu Srinivasan.

It is learnt that the board discussed about the concerns emanating from the West Asia conflict and ways how to deal with it.

A pack of media personnel camped at Bombay House, the headquarters of the Tata Group, but none of the board members spoke to them as it was a routine meeting.

These loss-making companies are believed to have reported about ₹30,000 crore loss in FY2026, up from ₹10,905 crore in FY25.

While Air India has more than doubled its losses to around ₹26,000 crore or $2.8 billion in FY26, the second largest loss making is Tata Digital, with losses of several thousands of crores.

Tata Digital houses the group’s digital commerce ambitions including Tata Neu, BigBasket, Tata 1mg, Croma, and Tata Cliq.
