Commotion broke out at the public grievance meeting in the Sivaganga District Collector’s office due to confusion during the distribution of tokens to those who had come to submit petitions.

During the public grievance meeting held on Monday, to manage the crowd at the petition registration counter, tokens were distributed. Although more than 300 people had arrived, only 50 tokens were issued in the first phase.

Because of this, the remaining people argued with the revenue department staff demanding tokens. At that point, the police personnel deployed there arrived to pacify the public.

The police further stated, “Only 50 tokens are currently available. Once those who have already received tokens register their petitions, more tokens will be issued. Until then, you must maintain patience.”

However, refusing to accept this explanation, the people engaged in an argument and attempted to rush toward the petition registration counter altogether.

Commotion broke out as the police personnel blocked them. Later, they were pacified, and tokens were distributed once again. Those who had come to submit petitions were left dissatisfied by this confusion.

Regarding this, the people who came to submit petitions stated, “There is a waiting room for the public at the petition registration counter. They could have made people stand in a queue in front of that room and sent them in for token distribution. Instead, the staff distributed tokens haphazardly at their own whim, without identifying who came first or last. On top of that, they gave tokens to only 50 people and made the rest wait. This caused unnecessary confusion.”
