The India Meteorological Department forecast at 1 p.m. on Friday warned of severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets in Karimnagar, Peddapalli, and Khammam today (May 22, 2026) with day temperatures likely above 45°C. The five-day bulletin cautions of severe heat wave conditions across multiple Telangana districts, with temperatures exceeding 45°C in several areas.

Heat wave conditions extend across a broad belt including Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, and Siddipet. Warm night conditions are forecast in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal-Malkajgiri.

However, Hyderabad is expected to remain in the 41–44°C range throughout the five-day forecast period.

Districts like Suryapet, Karimnagar, Khammam, Jayashankar-Bhupalapally, Hanumakonda, and Bhadradri Kothagudem are projected to breach the 44°C mark on most days. The forecast temperature maps are orange and red as most of Telangana is covered under the ‘be prepared’ (41–44°C) or the extreme ‘warning’ (≥45°C) categories for day 1 and 2, with modest improvement from day 3 onward.
