A speeding electric car went out of control in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) afternoon damaging several vehicles.

The video of the incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, has been making rounds on social media platforms. According to the police, the car was travelling from Vivekananda Nagar towards Allwyn Colony when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The car first rammed into a motorcycle, throwing the rider onto the road, before veering onto the other side of the road and ploughing into multiple vehicles parked there. The vehicle finally came to a halt after crashing into a tiffin centre, triggering panic among locals and motorists in the area.

Kukatpally Inspector K.V. Subba Rao said the driver claimed that brake failure led to the mishap. He was taken into custody soon after the accident.

The police, however, ruled out drunk driving as the cause of the accident. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and whether any mechanical failure was involved.
