Police conduct meeting with Tasmac staff in Coimbatore

Police conduct meeting with Tasmac staff in Coimbatore

Posted on May 20, 2026 By admin

The police on Wednesday (May 20) held meetings with the staff of Tasmac liquor outlets in the city to curb the sale of liquor before or after business hours and sale to persons aged below 21. The Peelamedu police held a meeting with the supervisors and salespersons of Tasmac outlets functioning in their jurisdiction.

Inspector S. Saravanan said staff from 13 Tasmac outlets in Peelamedu station’s jurisdiction attended the meeting. The staff were told to strictly adhere to the business hours — 12 noon to 10 p.m. They were told to sell liquor to persons aged 21 years and above, with a limit of four quarter bottles or two half bottles or one full bottle per person. The police told them that necessary action will be taken against the errant staff if these instructions are not followed.

The staff were advised to ask for valid age and identity proof if the age of any customer was in question. The restriction in the sales quantity was advised to avoid bulk purchase of liquor that could lead to bootlegging.

Officials with the Coimbatore District Police said similar meetings were held in all sub-divisions in their jurisdiction. Patrol teams are covering Tasmac outlets to curb sale of liquor before or after business hours, they said.
