Barely two years after its formation and its recent historic breakthrough in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, is making swift moves to strengthen its presence beyond Tamil Nadu.
Having already established a foothold in Wayanad and Palakkad, the party has now launched its district unit in Thrissur, marking another step in its Kerala expansion strategy.
The inaugural meeting in Thrissur recently witnessed the participation of a large number of Mr. Vijay’s fans, who formed the backbone of the gathering. In its initial phase, the TVK has primarily reached out to members of the Vijay Fans Association, inviting them to join the political movement.
Party organisers said the focus is on building a strong grassroots network by forming committees at the ward level and directly engaging with the public. They described the growing momentum as a fitting response to those who had dismissed the TVK’s political prospects.
Efforts are also under way to bring more people, including women, into the fold. Following Thrissur, the party plans to rapidly expand its presence across Kerala in the coming months.
