For the second time in 48 hours national capital Delhi along with several other cities in Northern India woke up to an increased price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) with the price of the retail auto fuel hiked ₹1 for every kilogram starting on Sunday (May 17, 2026).

Petrol and diesel prices hike updates

CNG is now priced from at ₹80.09 per kilogram in the NCT of Delhi with the latest hike. Previously, on Friday (May 15, 2026) CNG prices were hiked by ₹2.

In a statement issued Sunday (May 17, 2026), North India’s largest CNG distributor, Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) explained the latest hike seeks to marginally offset the impact of the increase in input gas cost.

“The revision in retail prices of CNG has been effected only to marginally offset the impact of increase in input gas cost along with steep appreciation of USD,” the statement read, adding, “Even after revision, CNG would still offer up to 45% saving towards the running cost when compared to vehicles running on alternate fuel at the current level of prices.”
