K.V. Ramalingam, former Minister in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government who held the Public Works, Sports and Youth Welfare portfolios between 2011 and 2013, joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the presence of the party’s chief coordinator, K. A. Sengottaiyan, at the latter’s residence in Gobichettipalayam late on Thursday (May 14, 2026) night.
Mr. Ramalingam was elected to the Assembly from the Erode West constituency in 2011 and 2016. He had been serving as the AIADMK’s Erode Urban district secretary until the party’s general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, recently removed him from the post.
Around 11.30 p.m. on Thursday, Mr. Ramalingam met Mr. Sengottaiyan at his residence in Kullampalayam near Gobichettipalayam and formally joined TVK. Mr. Ramalingam said more than 500 AIADMK cadre and functionaries were likely to join TVK later in the day.
