Senior IPS officer and Inspector General of Police (IGP), North Zone, Asra Garg has been transferred and posted as IGP, Intelligence, Chennai. He replaces Avinash Kumar who has not been given a posting yet. Mr. Garg is a 2004-batch officer of the Indian Police Service.
As IGP, South Zone, Mr. Garg supervised the security arrangements for major events, including the sensitive Thevar Jayanthi and Immanuel Sekaran anniversaries.
In the North Zone, Mr. Garg took stringent action against drug peddlers and also conducted financial investigations to seize and attach their assets procured with the proceeds of crime. Mr. Garg also served in the Central Bureau of Investigation, Delhi, and as Additional Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai Police.
