Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) general secretary and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar has demanded that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) with senior women police officers in the DGP-cadre be formed to investigate the high-profile POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) case registered against the son of Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay in the Pet Basheerabad police station.
In a statement, he said on Sunday that police did not even accept the complaint from the victim’s family for about 5 hours on Saturday stating that high-profile persons were linked to the accused and even the acknowledgement of the complaint (not FIR copy) was not given to the victims family till they threatened that they would commit suicide in the Prime Minister’s meeting on Sunday.
He further sought to know why the women leaders of the Congress such as D. Seethakka and K. Surekha were tight-lipped over the issue when they have all the time to react on everything. He also sought action against the police officers who were trying to protect the accused in the POCSO case.
