FAIMA seeks faster NEET-SS counselling process, cites distress among aspirants

FAIMA seeks faster NEET-SS counselling process, cites distress among aspirants

Posted on May 6, 2026 By admin

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has urged the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to expedite the NEET Super Specialty (SS) 2025 counselling process and minimise delays caused by ongoing legal proceedings in the Supreme Court.

In a letter addressed to the MCC director on Wednesday, FAIMA said the continued postponement of the second round of counselling was creating uncertainty and distress among aspiring super-speciality doctors across the country.

“While the first round of counselling had been completed, the second round was delayed repeatedly due to pending proceedings before the Supreme Court,” the association said, adding that although judicial processes must be respected, prolonged uncertainty was adversely affecting candidates as well as healthcare delivery.

According to the letter, many senior resident doctors awaiting seat allotment were currently working under excessive workload and mental stress. The delay in counselling was not only impacting academic progression but was also contributing to workforce shortages in super-speciality departments nationwide.

The doctors’ body requested the MCC to explore the possibility of conducting subsequent counselling rounds in parallel with the legal process, wherever permissible. It also sought urgent clarification or directions from the appropriate authorities to prevent further delays.

FAIMA further asked the MCC to provide candidates with a clear and transparent timeline for the counselling process in order to reduce uncertainty and anxiety among aspirants.
