Nine miners died on Monday (May 4, 2026) in an explosion inside a coal mine in central Colombia caused by a buildup of gases, according to a final toll released by the mining authority.

“Six miners rescued and nine dead following emergency at mine in Sutatausa, Cundinamarca,” a statement issued by the National Mining Agency said.
