The story so far:

Vantara, the 3,500-acre wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, owned by Anant Ambani, son of Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, has offered to take in 80 hippos scheduled for euthanasia. The offer follows the Colombian government’s decision on 13 April to approve the cull, with an investment of 7,200 million pesos delegated to the regional autonomous corporations Cornare, Corantioquia, Corpoboyacá and CAS. Vantara has said it would house the animals in “a specially designed and enriched environment.”
