Problems in land transactions continue to persist a year after passage of Bhu Bharati Act

Problems in land transactions continue to persist a year after passage of Bhu Bharati Act

Posted on April 27, 2026 By admin

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Commission chairman Kodanda Reddy interacting with M. Sunil Kumar, the legal expert who played key role in drafting Bhu Bharati Act, at Gajulapahad village, where a farmer committed suicide due to land related problems.

Farmers continue to face problems related to their land transactions a year after the enactment of Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights) Act, 2025.

The recent suicide by farmer Madhav Rao in Gajulapahad village of Kangti mandal in Sangareddy district is indicative of the difficulties faced by farmers in securing rights over their lands. Madhav Rao reportedly took to the extreme step unable to face pressure from his family members after the ownership of the 8.25 acre land owned by the family was transferred to others through sada bainama (plain paper transaction) without their knowledge.
