BTC gets reprieve with de-notification regarding Glanders

Posted on April 17, 2026 By admin

There was good news for the Bengaluru Turf Club, which was the epicentre of the outbreak of Glanders, a contagious disease in equines.

As per clause-5 of the National Action Plan for Control and Eradication of Glanders in India, the area which had been declared as “notified area’ has been de-notified and the restriction imposed on the movement of equines, donkeys and mules in and out of the notified area is withdrawn with immediate effect.

The surveillance was done according to clause 4.4 and 4.6 of the National Action Plan and samples were found negative.
