A suspect involved in ‌a shooting ‌on ‌Thursday (March 12, 2026) at Temple Israel ‌Synagogue in West Bloomfield, ‌Michigan, was shot dead, Reuters cited a ‌law enforcement ‌official as saying.

No one else was reported injured in the attack.

Earlier, the Michigan ‌State Police said it was aware of an ‌active shooting incident ‌at the ‌synagogue outside Detroit.

FBI Director Kash ‌Patel wrote on X: “FBI personnel are ‌on the scene with partners in Michigan and responding to ‌the apparent vehicle ramming and active shooter situation ‌out of Temple Israel Synagogue in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan.”

Aerial news footage from the scene showed plumes ‌of smoke rising from the roof of the synagogue, with several police vehicles nearby.

WDIV-TV reported that a truck crashed into the Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield Township. Footage from the scene shows dozens of police vehicles surrounding the building.

The Jewish Federation of Detroit advised all Jewish organisations in the area “to go into lockout protocol — nobody in or out of your building.”
