Forensic scientist and advisor to the State government on Forensic Science, K.P.C. Gandhi, on Saturday highlighted the transformative role of science, forensic research and moral courage in nation-building.

Speaking at the 72nd annual day celebrtions at Andhra Loyola College (ALC), Mr. Gandhi urged students to integrate knowledge with social commitment and to uphold truth and justice in their professional lives.

College principal Fr. S. Melchior expressed gratitude to the founding fathers of the institute, whose vision continued to guide the institution for over seven decades. He said the college currently offered five Intermediate groups, 28 undergraduate programmes and two postgraduate programmes, catering to 4,616 students with a faculty strength of 153 and 110 non-teaching staff

He said that ALC remained the only college from Andhra Pradesh, which consistently ranked among the top 150 colleges under  National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) since 2017, and that the UGC had extended its autonomous status for 10 more years, from 2025 to 2031

The college principal also highlighted significant student achievements at the national and university levels. Kodali Rina received the Dr. Ambedkar National Merit Award, carrying ₹60,000 for academic excellence. In the field of NCC, cadet D. Vijaya Lakshmi brought laurels to the institution by securing the title “Best Rider – Girls, Republic Day 2026” at the national level, earning recognition from the Directorate General NCC, New Delhi .

The celebrations concluded on a vibrant note with colourful cultural performances. Students presented thematic dances promoting national integrity and unity in diversity, reflecting the spirit of harmony and patriotism. A skit by staff on contemporary trends creatively showcased Loyola pride, institutional values, and the evolving role of education in modern society.
