The funeral of 10-month-old Aalin Sherin Abraham, the State’s youngest organ donor, will be held at 3 p.m. at St.Thomas CSI Church, Nedungadappally, Kottayam, with State honours on Sunday.

In donating the organs of the infant, whose young life was snatched away by fate way too early, her parents made a profound sacrifice, exemplifying extraordinary compassion and humanity.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and many prominent citizens had penned soulful notes on Facebook, hailing the decision of the parents as a noble act that defies words. As a mark of respect to the departed soul and in recognition of this noble act, the government has directed the District Collector, Pathanamthitta, to arrange for wreaths to be placed on the mortal remains of the infant on behalf of the Chief Minister and the State government.

The District Police Chief has also been directed to accord police honours to the departed soul with bugle salute.
