An ​earthquake of ‌magnitude ​5.5 struck New Guinea, Papua New ​Guinea, ⁠on Tuesday (January 27, 2026), the ​German ⁠Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.

The ‌quake ‌was at ‍a depth ‍of 10 km (6 miles), GFZ ⁠said.
