The Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 6.1% year-on-year to ₹1.74 lakh crore in December 2025, marking a three-month high, official data showed. However, a sharp increase in refunds resulted in net revenues slumping to a 12-month low of ₹1.46 lakh crore.

While the gross collections are marginally higher than the Rs 1.7 lakh crore collected in November, which reflected the collections of the first full month following the GST rate cuts, they are still well below the nine-month average of this financial year of ₹1.93 lakh crore

Refunds in December increased by nearly 31% to ₹28,980 crore.
