Overturned survey boat arranged by subcontractor, no employee onboard, clarifies Asian Energy Services

Overturned survey boat arranged by subcontractor, no employee onboard, clarifies Asian Energy Services

Posted on December 10, 2025 By admin

The boat that overturned during a survey assignment in Jambusar coast in Bharuch district of Gujarat was engaged by a subcontractor and did not have any employee of Asian Energy Services onboard, the reservoir imaging company said in a statement Tuesday (December 9, 2025).

On December 7, following a sudden strong tidal current in the Jambusar coast a survey boat engaged by the company overturned within seconds. A worker lost his life, with another still missing, whilst the rest have been rescued.

The company said that it was in touch with the family of the two crew members and was extending all necessary assistance. It further stated, “We are ascertaining the exact circumstances leading up to the incident and coordinating with the relevant stakeholders and authorities.”

Following the incident, press reports had incorrectly attributed the boat to be operated and owned by ONGC. In a statement earlier this week, the state-owned exploratory company had also clarified that the personnel onboard were engaged by Asian Energy Services Ltd for a survey assignment and did not have any ONGC employee onboard.
