BJP criticises T.N. Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin for calling Sanskrit a ‘dead language’

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (November 22, 2025) criticised Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for describing Sanskrit as a “dead language”.

At a press briefing, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia alleged that Mr. Stalin was “known for his hatred” for Hindus. “He (Mr. Stalin) forgets that our culture, our religious texts, has some foundation. If anything, it is the Sanskrit language that is the foundation of the faith of millions of Hindus. This is a vile joke that Udhayanidhi Stalin uses, and repeatedly does that, to hurt the sentiments of Hindus.”

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through his positive politics, promoted development and integrity, and has become a symbol of unity, Mr. Bhatia said the DMK leader had “become synonymous with anarchy and division”.

“This is despite the fact that the Supreme Court had earlier reprimanded the DMK leaders for hurting the sentiments of Hindus…,” he said, accusing Mr. Stalin of repeatedly insulting Hindus.

The BJP leader also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that she was “distressed and concerned” about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. “It is now clear to the people of West Bengal that a frightened Mamata Banerjee has realised that they are rejecting her and that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government. Her entire politics is based on communal and infiltrators’ votes,” he alleged.
