German airline Lufthansa said on Monday (September 29, 2025) it would slash 4,000 jobs, mainly in Germany, by 2030 in a bid to cut costs after a fall in earnings.

Europe’s biggest airline group said the move would essentially target administrative posts and not operational functions. Lufthansa’s carriers also include Eurowings, Austrian, Swiss and Brussels Airlines.

The German company also set new mid-term targets for 2028 and 20230.

It expects an adjusted earnings before interest and taxes margin of 8% to 10%, and its free cash flow is expected to generate over 2.5 billion euros per year.
