Workers of Coal India and its subsidiaries would be receiving ₹1.03 lakh in performance-linked rewards, accruing for FY 2024-25, the company informed Thursday (September 25, 2025). In an exchange filing, the public sector undertaking informed the total financial implication for paying their approx. 2.1 lakh workers would be ₹2,153.82 crores. The reward amount would be credited on a pro-rata basis depending on their attendance.

The incentives were announced after the 6th meeting of the standardisation committee of the Joint Bipartite Committee for the Coal Industry, held on Wednesday (September 25, 2025). The bipartite committee, having representation from the senior management of PSUs and central trade unions, negotiate and decide the wages and other allowances for the workers of the coal industry.

Other than Coal India, about 38,000 non-executive employees of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) would also be receiving the performance-linked reward. The Coal Ministry estimated the total financial implication for SCCL to be ₹380 crore.

Mentioning the performance-linked reward as “fair reward for their [the workers’] efforts”, the ministry added, “The payment of PLR provides a timely boost to the workers and their families during the festive season.”
