The government of Karnataka has planned to develop the historical fort located in the middle of Yadgir old city at a cost of ₹100 crore under the ‘one district, one spot’ project, MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur has said.

After the recent visit of Tourism Minister H.K. Patil, the department has taken the initiative to develop the fort, Mr. Channareddy told The Hindu.

The historical fort will be developed at a cost of ₹100 crore under ‘one district, one spot’ as the Tourism Department has already prepared the blueprint for the project. “Of the required budget, ₹33 crore will be provided under the MLA grant, and the remaining ₹67 crore will be provided by the government of Karnataka,” he said.

The project is being initiated with an aim to boost tourism in the district.

Another project is the construction of a ropeway at Mailaralingeshwar temple at Mailpur village, which attracts devotees from across Karnataka and also neighbouring States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra.

The project received approval during the cabinet meeting in Kalaburagi. During the winter session of the legislature in Belagavi, Karnataka Tourism Ropeways Bill, 2024 was adopted, which facilitates construction of 15 ropeways in the State, including that of Mailarlingeshwar temple at Mailapur.

Mr. Tunnur said that work would be initiated after the government got the technical survey done by experts.
