China issues guidelines to support elderly care system, ‘silver economy’

China plans to establish the basics of an elderly care financial system by 2028.

China on Friday (December 13, 2024) issued guidelines to support the elderly care system and the “silver economy”, with the goal of establishing the basics of an elderly care financial system by 2028, according to a statement from the Central Bank.

China will explore the creation of special financial bonds dedicated to raising funds for the elderly care sector, it said.
