Leader of Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, Botcha Satyanaryana on Friday said that the protests held across the State against the government’s failure to honour the promises made to the farmers were a success.

The YSRCP gave a call to its leaders and activists to stage protests at the Collectorates across the State, demanding minimum support price (MSP) and the release of the ₹20,000 financial assistance promised to farmers.

Addressing the media, Mr. Satyanarayana said the government should fulfil the promises made to the farmers. “The government should announce the date for releasing the input subsidy. It must ensure that paddy is procured at Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs),” the YSRCP leader said.

He said that the YSRCP had decided to boycott the elections of the water users’ associations as the ‘ruling coalition parties are resorting to atrocities’. “The elections are not being held in a democratic manner. The VROs are not giving the No-Objection Certificates to the candidates, a mandatory document to contest the elections,’‘ he alleged.

Asked about the arrest of actor Allu Arjun in the case related to the death of a woman in the release event of his movie Pushpa 2 in Hyderabad and the ongoing disputes in Manchu Mohan Babu family, the former Minister said the government should not act in a haste.

“The incident at Sandhya Theatre was an unfortunate one. Is it not the failure of the police and intelligence department?’‘ he questioned.
