Heavy rain continued to lash parts of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday (November 4, 2026), even as cyclonic storm Murasu weakened into a deep depression at around 11 p.m. on November 3 and further into a depression at around 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Between 8.30 a.m. and 11 a.m., several weather stations in Kakinada, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema and Eluru districts reported more than 50 mm. J. Ramaraopetta in Kakinada district recorded 95.09 mm, Karapa in Kakinada district 89.25 mm, Kakinada city 79.25 mm, Jeelugumilli in Eluru district 76.14 mm, Injaram in Kakinada district 75.25 mm, Kothuru in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district 70 mm and Kunavaram in Polavaram district 47.75 mm.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), widespread showers are likely in coastal districts across the State on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the depression, a remnant of severe cyclonic storm Murasu, over east Telangana and adjoining coastal Andhra Pradesh moved slowly and was centred about 10 km southwest of Khammam in Telangana, 50 km north-northwest of Nandigama in Andhra Pradesh, 90 km northwest of Rentachintala in A.P., 90 km east-northeast of Nalgonda in Telangana, 90 km northwest of Vijayawada and 100 km west

Palnadu bears the brunt

Edlapadu in Palnadu district received the most rain in the State in the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 269.45 mm, according to the Andhra Pradesh Directorate of Economics and Statistics (APDES). Sixteen automatic weather station gauges crossed 204.5 mm, the IMD’s threshold for extremely heavy rain.

The rain, according to APDES readings, was heaviest in the central coastal belt, in Palnadu, Guntur, Bapatla, Krishna, NTR and the Godavari districts. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema recorded the highest district average, 125.4 mm.
