Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi on Friday conducted a review meeting of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and ordered officials to inspect commercial establishments that distribute one-time use plastics. He directed officials to improve source segregation and prevent distribution of one-time use plastics in commercial areas during the Deepavali season.
The GCC will also launch mass cleaning in the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board areas and improve mechanical sweeping along roads.
GCC Commissioner G.S. Sameeran was also present.
